Researchers at the University of Carolina found that hugging for 20 seconds was enough to boost levels of oxytocin sufficiently to induce emotional and physiological benefits for a whole day. Oxytocin, the love hormone, not only makes you feel good; it also improves heart function, protecting against heart disease. Hugging was found to reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which is associated with anxiety, physical tension, anger and weaker immunity.

Norways Leona Johansson, and Tommy Hol Ellingsen are environmental activists using 'eco-porn' to save the forests in South America - no easy task as many organisations won't accept their 'dirty' money. One main message I got from them is that the very fact we hide our sexuality behind closed doors is a powerful indicator of how disconnected from nature we've become and it's this disconnection which drives our capacity to denude and rape our planet. They also suggest that it's actually more acceptable to rape our earth, than express our own nudity and natural proclivities. They've called their website fuckforforest.com and use their diverse and creative sexual exploits to attract media attention. It must be working as they've already raised over $350,000. It gives a whole new slant to the old song, 'If you go down to the woods today, you're in for a big surprise….'.

'There are two options for the eco-condom user. The first is a lambskin condom (also sheep skin) but it won't stop AIDS or STDs so an alternative is no sex!!! There is a product suitable for vegans that uses latex from the rubber tree from a company named Condomi, a UK based company producing condoms from natural rubber in a number of interesting varieties. I believe it's the only one approved by the Vegan society as it doesn't use an extract of milk, casein, that lead brands do, nor does it use plastic to sustain the life of the product. This is very funny for when I was on a dig in Wales we excavated a brothel with sheep skin condoms packed into a pot and preserved under the water!'
